When something is shifting and you can’t name it
You know the feeling. Something in your life is moving. A relationship, a job, a restlessness that won’t settle. You can feel it, but you can’t quite put it into words.
Most of us deal with that feeling in a rush. We scroll, we ask friends, we read a horoscope that could apply to anyone.
The Cacao Reading is the opposite of a rush. It is one quiet hour, just you and me, here in Big Bay. We start with a warm cup of cacao, and we end with real answers to the questions you actually came with.
The cup in your hands has travelled a long way
When I pour your cacao, I love knowing how old this moment is.
More than 5,000 years ago, people in the upper Amazon were already growing cacao. Slowly it made its way north into Mexico and Central America, carried from hand to hand and village to village. The Olmec drank it. The Maya drank it. The Aztecs prized the beans so highly they traded them like gold.
It was never an everyday drink. It was poured at weddings, offered to the gods, and shared when something important needed marking. Centuries later, a botanist gave the tree its name, Theobroma cacao. Theobroma means “food of the gods”. I think he understood.
What we do together is not an ancient rite, and I won’t pretend it is. It is a simple, modern way of honouring something people have gathered around for a very long time.
Why I start with cacao
The cacao I serve is ceremonial-grade cacao from Guatemala, where Maya communities have grown and prepared cacao for thousands of years. It is not hot chocolate. It is the whole bean, ground into a thick paste, with nothing added. Rich, a little bitter, and warm all the way down.
I start with it because it changes the room. You wrap your hands around the cup. Your phone goes away. Everything slows down a little. Cacao has a gentle, natural lift, softer than coffee, and most people find it a lovely way to feel present.
By the time your cup is half empty, you have arrived. Not just in my space in Big Bay, but in yourself. And that is exactly where I want you to be when we open up your stars.
Your questions, sent before we meet
This is what makes The Cacao Reading different from a general reading. When you book, I send you five short questions to fill in:
- What is happening in your life right now? A few lines on work, home and relationships.
- What is the main question you want answered? For example, “Is this the right time to leave my job?”
- Where do you feel stuck, or what keeps getting in your way? It is fine to say you don’t feel stuck.
- Is there a specific person you would like to understand better? Optional.
- Have you had a big change recently, like a move, a loss or a big decision? Optional.
I prepare your whole reading around your answers before you arrive. So the hour isn’t spent on things you don’t care about. It is spent on you, and on what is on your mind right now.
People have always looked up
Long before clocks and calendars, people looked up at night to make sense of their lives.
In ancient Babylon, priests watched the planets move and wrote down what they saw, season after season. Around 2,400 years ago, they began mapping the planets for the moment a single person was born. That idea, that the planets at your first breath say something about you, has travelled with us ever since.
It grew into two great traditions. One passed through Egypt and Greece and became the Western astrology you know, with its twelve signs. The other grew in India, where Vedic astrology is still woven into everyday life, consulted before weddings, moves and new beginnings.
Your Blueprint holds both. That is why it is called Dual Sky: two ancient ways of seeing, turned towards the same moment. You. And where they agree, the message is hard to miss.
What “your stars” really means
You don’t need to know a single thing about astrology. I will never hand you a wheel of symbols and leave you to decode it.
Here is how I see it. The moment you arrived, the planets were in one exact arrangement, and it will never happen quite that way again. It is yours alone. It speaks to how you love, how you work, what lights you up and what wears you down.
And the planets keep moving. As they do, different parts of you get woken up at different times. That is why some seasons feel like walking uphill in the wind, and others feel like everything suddenly clicks.
What a reading can give you
- Words for what you are feeling. That restless, can’t-quite-name-it feeling finally has a shape.
- A sense of timing. Which season you are in, what it is asking of you, and when it starts to turn.
- A kinder look at yourself. Your gifts, and the patterns that keep coming back, held up gently where you can see them.
- Your own clear yes or no. Nobody deciding for you. Just more confidence when you decide for yourself.
I always say a reading is a mirror, not a script. It shows you the doorways. Which ones you walk through is always yours.
Your hour, step by step
- Arrive and settle. Kick off your shoes if you like. I pour your cup of cacao and you sip it slowly while we chat.
- A short body scan. A few quiet, guided minutes to help you arrive in the room and leave the rest of your day at the door.
- Your reading. We go through the summary of your Dual Sky Blueprint together, starting with what you told me in your five questions.
- From insight to next steps. I am also a life coach, so we don’t stop at what your stars are saying. Together we turn it into one or two clear, practical next steps you can start on this week.
- Your report to keep. After our session, your full Blueprint arrives as a PDF by email or WhatsApp.
What you take home
An hour goes quickly, and it is hard to remember everything that was said. So you don’t have to. After our session you receive your complete Dual Sky Blueprint as a PDF: more than 20 pages written for you alone, with a month-by-month look at the year ahead.
In the session we talk through the summary. The report goes deeper, so you can come back to it in a month, or in six, when that season you were curious about arrives. Keep it on your phone, or print the pages you want on your fridge.
Here is a taste of what a Blueprint can sound like. This one is for a made-up client, but people tell me it feels uncomfortably familiar:
“Dear Anna, you told me you feel stuck, but I don’t think stuck is the right word. I think you are waiting for permission. Your stars say you have been holding a door closed with both hands for almost two years, because walking through it means disappointing someone you love. From February, your stars show that door beginning to swing open, with or without your hands on it. The question in front of you isn’t whether to leave. It is whether you will choose it, or let it choose you.”
That is the kind of honesty you can expect. Warm, but never vague. Your Blueprint is written for you and only you, around the exact questions you send me.
This hour is calling you if…
- You have outgrown something, a job, a relationship, a version of yourself, but you haven’t said it out loud yet.
- You keep asking friends for advice, then doing exactly what you were going to do anyway.
- The same kind of person, or the same kind of problem, keeps showing up with a different face.
- You are the one who holds everyone together, and nobody asks how you are holding up.
- You are quietly waiting for a sign.
If you read one of those and felt a small tug in your chest, that is your sign. Send me a message and let’s pour your cup.
Cacao contains natural stimulants, a little like coffee. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a heart condition or high blood pressure, take prescribed medication, or find that coffee makes you jittery, just tell me when you book. I will make you a lighter cup. The reading is exactly the same either way.

Questions people ask
Do I need to know anything about astrology?
Not at all. Everything is explained in plain, everyday words.
What if I don’t know my birth time?
Your birth time matters because it sets your rising sign and decides which area of life each planet falls in. Start with your birth certificate, a baby book, hospital records, or a parent or relative. If you still can’t find it, tell me when you book and we’ll talk through your options.
What should I ask?
Whatever is on your mind. Work, love, timing, a decision you are putting off. Two or three questions is a good number.
Can I book for two?
Yes. Bring your best friend, your sister or your mum for Two Readings, One Table: two hours together, where each of you gets your own reading and your own Blueprint. It is R1,400 for two at the launch price, and as a gift I add a short look at how your two sets of stars meet. For couples, a Cacao Reading built around your Love Compatibility Blueprint is coming soon. Ask me to put you on the list.
Is the cacao safe for me?
For most people, yes. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, take medication, or are sensitive to coffee, let me know and I will make you a lighter cup.
